Exam Update

I thought I would give you a quick overview of examinations.

Pre-Grade 1 & 2:  Held like a presentation classes and all students receive a report card but no grading, along with a beautiful rosette.  Your child needs a dance t-shirt and navy blue leggings.

Pre-Grade 3: Is a good introduction to exams and all students receive a report card, are graded and a beautiful rosette.  Your child needs our uniform (bootlegs/body top for jazz/tap/contemporary and hip hop pants/t-shirt for hip hop).

Level 1 upwards:  All students are graded and receive a report card and certificate.  Your child needs our uniform (bootlegs/body top for jazz/tap/contemporary and hip hop pants/t-shirt for hip hop).

Medal Awards:  These are open to ALL STUDENTS who wish to participate whether they sit exams or not.

  • These entertaining awards are aimed at encouraging students to dance and, by allowing them to perform in front of a friendly audience of parents in a fun and non-judgmental atmosphere, develop confidence.
  • They can be gained at three levels, Junior (under 9 yrs), Intermediate (9+ yrs) and Senior (must have completed all of the Intermediate Level), with three categories at each level Bronze, Silver & Gold.
  • The students wear a costume, make up and accessories are optional, which all add to the sense of fun and performance.
  • They perform one dance for the Junior Level and Intermediate Bronze but are then required to perform two dances from Intermediate Silver level upwards.
  • The Junior Levels are not graded.  The Intermediate and Senior Levels are graded as follows: Merit, Merit Plus, Excellence, Excellence Plus
